What Is 4 Day Diet?

Why is it that every time we find a diet created by some “doctor”, it really doesn’t matter who it is, we glom onto it. It helps if we’ve seen that doctor on TV, like Ian K. Smith MD, the creator of the 4 Day Diet. But half the time, it’s technically somebody else’s diet (or worse yet, common sense) sold under a different name. And what makes you think that the 4 Day Diet is any different? I certainly don’t expect it to be.
But the 4 Day Diet is a little different. It doesn’t focus on 5 meals a day, though everybody should. Every dieting blog tells you that, you don’t need a professional to tell you that. The 4 Day Diet does encourage you to change your eating habits every 4 days, which is original. But it sounds highly unsustainable. Again, you don’t necessarily need a doctor to tell you that.
Good Concepts Behind the 4 Day Diet
Still, the 4 Day Diet focuses on some good concepts. It doesn’t necessarily give you 7 different 4 day stages. A lot of the stages look about the same to me, mostly focusing on a lot of fruits and vegetables, in other words the types of foods that sometimes make people hate dieting.
Yes, these are healthy approaches. But 4 Day Diet was supposed to be different, helping you to overcome your struggles or easing you into dieting. The 4 Day Diet throws you in head first and then leaves you with a sink or swim situation. And not all of the aspects are quite as healthy.
The Unhealthy Parts of the 4 Day Diet
Unfortunately, not everything about the 4 Day Diet is healthy. Interestingly, some of the stages of the 4 Day Diet encourage you to drink diet sodas. Maybe it’s meant to satisfy your sweet tooth without adding calories. But studies have shown that diet sodas and artificial sweeteners teach your body to think that all sweet things are low in calories. In other words, you eat more sugar later on, sugar is not nearly as sweet, and yes you get all the calories from similar carbs and sugars.
Conclusion on the 4 Day Diet
The 4 Day Diet is not quite the expert approach that you might expect. It has approaches that do work. But dieters who have struggled with dieting before may find that the 4 Day Diet presents a bigger struggle, because virtually every stage is much stricter than the average. The 4 Day Diet may sound good at first. But it’s not set up quite like you might think.
