With properties that are supposed to make it ideal for weight management, CLA has recently been making its way into supplements all over the market. But are these supplements including in clinically proven amounts?

What is CLA?

CLA is a good fatty acid commonly found in meat and dairy (and now several supplements). It’s not one of the infamous omega fatty acids typically found in salmon but it is showing to provide some dramatic results. Studies have shown that CLA will allow you to burn more fat, build muscle, and lose more weight if taken in the right amounts.

What is the Ideal Dosage of CLA?

Credible clinical studies have found that CLA will have its effects when taken in amounts of 3.2 grams per day. At this amount, data showed that CLA could help people lose up to 90 grams of fat per week. When those conducting the test upped the dosage from 3.2 they found CLA had no further benefit than it already showed.

Should You Use CLA?

Though 90 grams of fat loss per week doesn’t sound like much, it can really add up over time. 90 grams a week comes out to about 10 pounds in a year. It may not be the fastest way to lose fat but it’s certainly effective. Its power to build muscle and burn fat won’t immediately lift someone out of obesity but it will make a good tool to improve body composition.
