Now there are the good ways and the bad ways to use anything. I mean when I was younger, I always saw charity organizations and nonprofit organizations as a good thing. But with all the corruption and just the fact that some nonprofits are not even really related to charity or service at all, it’s not what you think. But I find that there is still hope out there for charities and nonprofits. There are some good ones out there, and frankly if you are using it to fund something you care about, hopefully something good, it’s not such a bad thing.
But even the noblest charity requires advertisement. It’s a capitalist word out there, and unfortunately people are more likely to spread bad experiences than good. So in running my first charity, I thought it wise to use direct mail lists. It sounds crazy, I mean usually when I think about direct mail lists, I think about companies like Acai Berry that are rip offs and everything.
But the company I used that provided direct mail lists actually picked out individuals for me on the list who were interested in things related to my cause. For me, it was related to caring for homeless pets and the pets of the homeless. I know, it sounds harsh. But I don’t particularly care about the people, more about the pets or kids who don’t really get a choice in the whole matter. Unfortunately, the liabilities with providing veterinary care were way too high. But doing it, I found that the direct mail lists were actually full of quite a few people who were definitely interested in the cause, and while many weren’t extremists interested in things like PETA, they were more than willing to help out with an organization like mine. I achieved success I never could’ve just going on my own. So direct mail lists are extremely important.
