What Is Grapefruit Diet?

The Grapefruit Diet is an all natural way to lose weight. Now there are 2 different variations of this diet, and it has also been known as the “Hollywood Diet.” Grapefruits have obviously been used since earlier years, and this diet has been around since at least the 1930’s. It has been erroneously referred to as the Mayo Clinic Diet, and they claim that it will help you to get fat burning enzymes. It was originally sold by a company known as Xeroxlore, and they claim that it gives you a combination of only the healthiest approaches and results. They talk about studies such as that conducted in 2004 by the Florida Citrus Department, which found that study participants lost about 3-4 pounds in 12 weeks by using this diet. But frankly speaking, that doesn’t actually seem like a lot. It seems that you could definitely lose more weight with diet and exercise alone.

How The Grapefruit Diet Works

The Grapefruit Diet has two forms. First of all, you can eat only grapefruit for a period of days. Second, you could actually just add 8oz of grapefruit juice or half a grapefruit to each meal. This was actually the method studied in said 2004 clinical study.

Does Grapefruit Diet Work?

The Grapefruit Diet does not actually have any legitimacy. It was erroneously called the Mayo Clinic diet. They have nothing to do with this. Actually the Grapefruit Diet is another fad diet that can be extremely detrimental to the body. Sure it has some vital vitamins and minerals. But any fat burning capacity is minimal, and you are actually cutting out many of the calories and nutrients that your body needs. With the Grapefruit Diet, you actually get the fad diet such as the egg diet where you only eat eggs. And as far as just adding a grapefruit to each meal, well, it doesn’t have much basis in reality. Yes, it is healthier than the original grapefruit diet to be sure. That is one of extremes that can be quite dangerous at best. However, that doesn’t make it effective. The grapefruit has no innate fat burning capabilities. So obviously enough, you would just be wasting more time and money on Grapefruit Diet, which has also been indicated considering the so called clinical study that they conducted on the Grapefruit Diet. 3-4 pounds in 12 weeks is not what we consider to be weight loss.
