What Is Orlistat?

Orlistat is a fat blocker that is the active ingredient in such weight loss formulas as the prescription strength Xenical and the over the counter dietary aid known as Alli. This ingredients works by hindering your body’s ability to absorb all of the fat it takes in thereby leaving less of that fat behind on your frame. This compound is found in 60mg in Alli and in 120mg in Xenical. Orlistat does have current Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval at the time of this review.
What Ingredients Were Used?
Having the approval of the FDA is not something that all supplements can claim. This means that this product has been evaluated and deemed safe under the FDA’s guidelines. Orlistat has shown a degree of success in a small amount of clinical trials. The consequences of these studies were not incredible or remarkable as only less than half of the test subjects did see a 5-10% weight loss over a period of 12 months. Unfortunately every single participant ended up regaining the lost weight once they stopped taking Orlistat on a daily basis.
Does Orlistat Work?
This ingredient has a much higher “con” count than “pro.” Since Orlistat blocks fats you will find you may have an increase in oily or loose stool, frequent or urgent bowl movement, gas, orange spots and diarrhea. These are not common supplement side effects, we can assure you. You are also required to follow a strict non-fat diet in order to limit the probability of such embarrassing occurrences. Why not just follow a non-fat diet and skip the pill? You will probably lose the same amount of weight and you won’t need to be concerned about having an extra set of pants with you at all times. Since this product has weak weight loss results and potentially mortifying side effects we do not recommend any product containing Orlistat.
