The Harcombe Diet is what some would call an extremist diet. It adheres to a couple of philosophies, and while well researched, it can be extremely hard for some to follow. Yes, Harcombe tells you that you don’t have to count calories, which is great. But the types of foods that you can eat, even in the maintenance phase, are extremely restricted.
Low Carb Dieting
The Harcombe Diet is not your traditional low carb diet. It doesn’t for example tell you to eat as much as you want, as long as it’s meat. But it does limit you to proteins mixed with a few other natural foods. It’s a little bit more liberal than even some new age low carb diets, actually allowing you to eat more fruit. But many consumers still find this hard to follow.
”Real Foods” Only
The Harcombe Diet restricts dieters to “real” and unprocessed foods only, which is why users can still eat fruit. Fruit is natural, unprocessed (if you don’t buy it frozen or with extra sugar). This may seem pretty liberal. But this is the most restrictive part of the diet. You might be surprised at how many sauces and other foods that you may love that you now have to avoid to stay on the diet.
Is The Harcombe Diet Healthy?
With all of this in mind, there are some who will go to extremes making The Harcombe Diet unhealthy. But if you stick to the guidelines set down by Zoe Harcombe, it can actually be extremely healthy. The only problem is that most will deviate either to the point of not losing weight (because they are sneaking unhealthy foods), or going to great extremes.

Should you use The Harcombe Diet? Even though it’s based in the UK, it is available online, and there are plenty of other diets in other countries that use similar or identical philosophies. It’s not hard to find help if this is the kind of diet you want to use. This said, you don’t necessarily have to pay to get this diet. It’s really that simple. But some like the extra help.
